Cherokee ISD board unanimously amends District of Innovation plan to remove committee-combining language

The Cherokee ISD Board amended its District of Innovation (DOI) plan on Sept. 16 to remove language that had proposed combining the district's School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) with Site-Based committees.
"Motion by Anne Brownlee; seconded by Rodney Johnson to amend the District of Innovation plan reflecting the change; passed unanimously, 7-0," the minutes show. The amendment was prompted by a clarification that SHAC and Site-Based committees cannot be legally combined, and the board removed the combining language from the DOI plan.
Board members recorded no opposition to the amendment. The change will be reflected in the next DOI plan document the district files or presents for review.
