Board approves New Teacher Center agreement to support LASO PREP mentorship work

Presenters LaKeisha LeBlanc and Dr. Atina Young described the PREP grant’s focus on strengthening teacher recruitment via residency programs, Grow Your Own initiatives, and mentorship for new teachers. They told the Board the district received grant approval in February 2026 and that the agreement aligns with the district’s strategic plan for mentoring and coaching.
The Board’s approval authorizes staff to implement the mentorship systems and partnerships described in the presentation; district staff indicated the New Teacher Center will provide targeted supports for novice teachers.
