Chelsea, the district staff lead, told the committee she had reviewed public submissions and that the process will move from comment review to a confidential ranking next week. She said the committee will privately rank up to four names; the first ranking will identify a top eight, then a second ranking will produce up to four finalists the committee will forward to the full school board.
"The 14 day public comment window closes, on the 13th by Friday, August 14," Chelsea said during the meeting; she also told members she would submit the board packet by Aug. 17 and that the board’s meeting on the 24th would be the opportunity for public comment before the board takes action. Staff told members absentee voting would be allowed for committee members who could not attend the ranking session in person.
Chelsea also said she would post a summary of likely renaming costs on the renaming web page and provide a video tutorial for the ranking system so members can complete the confidential ranking more easily.
