Castleberry High bond on track; waterline and stormwater connections remain key risks

Cameron Holloman, the district's bond program manager, and contractor representatives updated the board on progress at Castleberry High School, reporting the project is roughly 25–30% complete and that decking and underground piers are nearly finished.

"We're gonna complete this on time. We're gonna stay within budget, and we're gonna do it in compliance of all the safety guidelines," Holloman said, listing stormwater drainage and an aging municipal waterline as the primary outside risks to schedule. Contractors said the district has submitted bids for media‑center and cafeteria work and is awaiting a stormwater connection where AT&T coordination remains the largest hurdle.

Contract representatives described a city option to replace the corroded ductile‑iron waterline at the city's expense and recommended taking that option if confirmed. One contractor noted a $192,000 reimbursement shortfall tied to the waterline work could instead be applied toward the library if the city replaces the line, reducing project risk to the district.

From a financial standpoint, the presenters said the project has paid about 25% of invoices to the prime contractor while estimating roughly 30% physical completion. The board reserved further questions for the next update and said staff will continue to track reimbursement and utility coordination closely.
