Staff member (S2) briefed the committee on several New York state mandates that will affect plan coverage starting Jan. 1, 2027.
S2 said the county will track mandates such as no-cost inhalers and no patient cost sharing for lung cancer follow-up screening and diagnostic services, and that CDPHP would provide pricing to the county. “This is a 01/01/2027 mandate,” S2 said, adding that the initial lung-cancer screening is already covered and that in 2025 the plan recorded 26 initial lung-cancer screenings.
Staff also noted that transvaginal ultrasound coverage during pregnancy is already included in the county SPD and that any New York mandate is automatically incorporated into the sheriff’s contract with CDPHP, while other contracts will be updated subject to committee approval. Staff will return with estimated costs from CDPHP for the inhaler mandate and other 2027 requirements.
