Canton ISD reports enrollment of 2,263, orders 77‑passenger bus and upgrades auditorium lighting

Superintendent Dr. Brian Nichols gave the district operations update at the Sept. 15 meeting, reporting total enrollment of 2,263 and an attendance rate of 97.2%. He provided campus enrollment counts: Canton High School 659; Canton Junior High 554; Canton Intermediate School 524; Canton Elementary School 526.
The superintendent reported the district has ordered a new 77‑passenger bus from Longhorn Bus Sales to support transportation needs. He also said the Larry Davis Auditorium's 20‑year Unison lighting system was upgraded to a Paradigm control system with a new dimmer rack and control racks, intended to support a future transition to LED lighting and covered by a comprehensive three‑year warranty. These operational items were reported to the board for information, and the minutes do not record separate votes on the bus purchase or lighting upgrade.
