OCCK to remove two low-use Purple-route stops; paratransit to cover affected riders

Laura Kerner told the commission that two stops on the Purple route will be removed because data show minimal usage: stop 30 (the in-loop K-State stop) and stop 31 (Choices Network). "There are two stops. Let me look at my map to tell you the exact numbers... there is stop 30... We have had one person use that in the past few years... and stop 31... the data just shows it's not used," Kerner said.
Kerner said stop 23, another K-State Salina stop at the Magnolia signal, will remain and that OCCK has already spoken with the regular user of stop 31 to make paratransit or other accommodations. The commission asked how the data are tracked; Kerner described onboard tablets that record boardings and GPS to measure route times, and said staff review data monthly to determine route efficiency and underused stops.
