Laura Kerner, Community Program Development Coordinator for OCCK Transportation, told the Accessibility Commission that OCCK operates CityGo buses in Salina and also provides regional and paratransit services across north-central Kansas.
Kerner said a standard CityGo one-way fare is $1 and a day pass is $2. "A bus ride is $1 one way or $2 for a day pass," she said, noting monthly and seasonal passes are also available. Kerner described a $5 flat-rate on-demand microtransit product that can be booked in the OCCK/Token Transit apps for trips within Salina.
Gretchen Needs, OCCK Mobility Specialist, outlined paratransit and Medivan services and eligibility procedures. "With Medicaid we are able to go anywhere in the state and we do frequently travel to take people to Kansas City for medical appointments," Needs said. Needs also described an application 'info sheet' available online, by mail, or in person and said approved paratransit status remains in the system for up to five years unless a rider's needs change.
Kerner said medical trips via Medivan are provided at no charge through Medicaid and partner arrangements with Salina Regional Health. She directed residents to purchase passes online or in person (main office, local bank branches, Salina Senior Center) and to use Token Transit for digital tickets.
The presentation closed with reminders about passenger accommodations: all OCCK vehicles are ADA-accessible, buses have foldable bike racks (up to two bikes), strollers may be secured, and drivers undergo passenger-safety training and must hold a passenger endorsement on their CDL.
The commission followed with public questions about outlying-area pickups, expected wait times for on-demand service (staff estimated about a half hour depending on shared-ride variables) and youth policies; OCCK representatives confirmed options for microtransit, paratransit and advance scheduling for medical appointments.
