Events Director/PIO Trina Elmes provided an update on the Events Board’s financial status, indicating that about 98% of the projected 2026 lodging-tax revenue had already been committed.
Given that status, councilmembers commented and reached consensus that the Events Board should reassess current funding recommendations. Elmes then presented four specific funding recommendations — Greater Wenatchee Girls Softball Association’s Sterling Invite (May 22–25, 2026); Mission Ridge Ski Education Foundation’s 14U Super G Series (March 6–9, 2026); Wenatchee Valley Sports Foundation WA State Winter Games (Feb. 27–Mar. 1, 2026); and Wenatchee Youth Basketball’s 509 Frenzy (Jan. 31–Feb. 1, 2026) — but no motions were made on those items during the meeting.
Council direction was procedural: staff and the Events Board were asked to reassess funding recommendations given the near-full commitment of projected revenue.
