Belen Fire Department names officers of the year, promotes Luis Belmudez

The Belen Fire Department presented awards and a promotion during the Jan. 5 council meeting. Chief Charles Cox recognized department achievements, saying Adrian Matthis "is Fire Fighter of the year for City of Belen" (Matthis was not present), named Kevin Garcia Jr. Engineer Driver Operator and EMT of the Year, and recognized Patrick Encinas as LT. Shift Supervisor and EMT‑I Officer of the Year.
Chief Cox also announced the promotion of Luis Belmudez to the position of Fire Engineer Driver. The recognitions were delivered as part of the department's presentations and were recorded in the meeting minutes; no votes were required for awards and promotions reported at the meeting.
