Burleson ISD board authorizes president to approve interim hires before January meeting

The Burleson Independent School District Board of Trustees voted unanimously Dec. 8 to give Board President Jerri McNair authority to approve new hires between the meeting and the board’s next regular session in January.
"Mr. Ryan Richardson made a motion, seconded by Mrs. Dallas Owen, that the Board of Trustees grant the Board President the authority to approve new hires between now and the next Regular meeting in January. The Board will consider ratifying those hires at the next meeting." The motion passed with all seven trustees voting in favor. The board reconvened into open session at 6:49 p.m. after a closed session where personnel matters were discussed.
Board members said the interim authorization is intended to allow the district to fill time-sensitive positions without delay; the hires approved by the president will be presented to the full board for ratification at the January meeting. The action followed a closed session list of personnel-related topics outlined under Texas Government Code, Title 5, Chapter 551.
