The Burleson Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Sept. 8 to adopt a total tax rate of $1.2552 per $100 of assessed value for the 2025–26 tax year. The rate was presented as Maintenance & Operations $0.7552 and Interest & Sinking $0.5000, unchanged from the prior year’s adopted rate but exceeding the no-new-revenue (effective) tax rate of $1.25467.
Trustee Staci Eisner moved to adopt the tax rate and Trustee Michael Ancy seconded; the board recorded unanimous approval. District staff noted that the Johnson and Tarrant County Appraisal Districts had certified the 2025 appraisal roll before the vote. Meeting minutes state the adoption was “effectively a 4.22 percent increase in the tax rate.”
Board members discussed the rate in the context of the certified appraisal rolls and the district’s budget timing; the financial statements presented that evening showed early-year collections and expenditures (staff reported approximately 0% of budgeted revenues collected and about 3% of General Fund expenditures used through July). The board did not amend the split between M&O and I&S at the Sept. 8 meeting.
Next steps: the adopted rate will be reflected in tax notices and the district’s adopted budget documents; the minutes do not record any further hearings or appeals scheduled at this meeting.
