Committee permits absentee voting; finalization Aug. 11, board vote Aug. 24

Chelsea, the district staff lead for the effort, told the committee she had "received word today that absentee voting will be permitted" for the committee's finalization vote, a procedural change she said she is documenting with legal review and will present at the next meeting.
The committee will use a new ranking flowchart for live ranking rounds: an initial round to identify the top eight names, a second ranking of those eight, and a final selection of up to four names to forward to the board. Chelsea said she is working with the district tech team to select a platform and to implement privacy checks and a how-to video for scoring.
Chelsea said the timeline calls for the committee's finalization meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 11, a package of compiled comments to be delivered to the board the week of Aug. 17, and a school-board vote on the night of Aug. 24. She added that the board will receive the committee's original rubric scores and the committee's ranked results to help inform the board's decisions, and that public comment will be accepted again at the board meeting.
