The Farmersville Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously voted on Nov. 17, 2025 to extend and accept the terms of Superintendent Micheal French's contract following a closed-session evaluation.
Brian Brazil made the motion to "extend and accept terms of Mr. French contract as discussed," which Kiel Cathey seconded; the motion carried with five trustees voting yea and two trustees absent (Dale Pickett and David Coleman). The board had met in closed session under the Texas Open Meetings Act to review personnel matters, including the superintendent's evaluation.
President Tony Gray announced before the recess, "The Board will recess into closed session beginning at 5:34 PM in accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act Texas Government Code Section 551.074 discussing personnel or hearing complaints against personnel." Closed session ended at 6:04 p.m., and the board returned to open session to take the public vote extending Mr. French's contract.
