Fairfield ISD board approves new high school and junior high course offerings for 2026-27

The Fairfield ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to add a set of new courses to the high school and junior high catalogs for the 2026-27 school year, subject to final budget decisions.
Approved high school courses include an Education & Training Career Pathway (a CTE "grow your own teachers" initiative), Principles of Exercise & Wellness (a CTE course that will replace the current Health class), Dual Credit Public Speaking, and Sports Officiating. The board also approved Theatre at both junior high and high school levels and Junior High Jazz Band.
Superintendent staff noted that some courses will be implemented only after budget conversations set staffing and resource allocations; the board approved listing the courses now to include them in the upcoming course selection process for students.
