Staff to brief council on updated Green Team procurement and environment policy

County staff told the council that Clark County's Green Team policy, established by prior commissioners, has not been updated since February 2019 and focuses on reducing environmental impact and protecting human, animal and environmental health through purchasing decisions.
"This policy is set to help reduce its environmental impact and prioritize protection of human, animal, and environmental health," staff said, adding they would present a draft and seek input before finalizing. Staff clarified that the Green Team work applies to county operations and is not an action that imposes new regulatory authority on county residents.
Council members asked staff whether the county has any authority related to residents' concerns about so-called 'chemtrails'; staff said they would follow up. The Green Team presentation is planned as an internal operations work session where staff will collect council feedback prior to posting a final policy.
