Councilor asks council to support adding fentanyl to child-endangerment statute

Councilor Little asked the Clark County Council to support work by a child-justice coalition to add fentanyl to Washington's child-endangerment statute, RCW 9.42.100. "They would like to add that" — fentanyl — "to the list," Little said, referencing the controlled-substance child-endangerment statute. Council members expressed general support and discussed adding the proposal to the county's legislative priority list for formal consideration in September. Staff said they would include the item on the list compiled by Jordan and circulate further details.
The council did not adopt any ordinance or vote on the matter at the meeting; Little asked only for permission to continue discussions with the lobbyist and partner jurisdictions. The request will return to the council as part of the legislative-priority process, and staff indicated they would present concrete language and next steps later in the fall.
