CFO: Castleberry ISD expects $45.3M in collections, cuts protect classrooms

In his budget presentation William Wooten said Castleberry ISD collected $44.6 million in audited 2023'24 revenues and spent $49.4 million, producing a net fund-balance decline of about $4.7 million. For the 2025'26 budget he projected total collections of $45.3 million and said staff adjusted spending lines so instructional functions are protected.
Wooten explained that cuts were targeted to function codes 50, 51 and 52 while protecting instructional functions (11, 12, 13 and 21). "We've had a 10% increase in premiums...and we saw we also cut the actual departments and campuses by 10%." he said while urging the board to consider the proposed figures.
