The Castleberry ISD Board of Education on June 16 approved the district's three required budgets for 2025–26 (general fund, child nutrition and debt service) and recorded unanimous votes to carry the consent agenda and adopt the fiscal-year budget.
Chief Financial Officer William Wooten asked the board to "consider these 3 budgets" and explained the district built the proposal on current law while reserving the right to amend it after state guidance. The budget presentation included audited 2023–24 totals (collections of $44,600,000 and expenditures of $49,400,000, a net deficit of about $4.7 million) and projected 2025–26 collections of $45.3 million, with a modest projected positive net change in fund balance of roughly $97,000.
Wooten described the legal requirement that the board approve the budget at the function level and outlined next steps: the board will "true up" the budget after July certified values and return in August to adopt a final tax rate once the Texas Education Agency confirms final numbers. During the meeting the board recorded motions that "carried 6 0" on the consent agenda and again on adoption of the fiscal-year budget.
