Several Wilsonville residents told the council Aug. 5 they want the Town Center plan decided by voters rather than delayed further.
John Ludlow, a former mayor and 50‑year resident, said the public materials did not clearly show maximum indebtedness or density and criticized the process as feeling like a campaign. "It just feels like the public is not at the table," Ludlow said. Tim Knapp, a 40‑year resident and Town Center Task Force participant, emphasized the task force's two‑year outreach and asked the council to "let those 6,000 people have their say." George Dunn, who testified remotely, said the plan is nearly a decade old and urged the council to let residents decide "in my lifetime."
Other commenters supported the referral and praised staff materials: Wade Keenan said the ballot title and explanatory statement are concise and directed voters to the city website; Chris Mayer (who spoke during public comment) said the city has followed the charter process and provided required materials. Several commenters urged the council to move the plan forward rather than letting planning discussion delay implementation.
