Canadian ISD board sets May 2 election date, signs joint agreements and appoints appraisal board member

The Canadian ISD Board approved an Order of Election for the May 2, 2026 Uniform Election Date to fill two at-large trustee positions and approved joint election agreements with nearby jurisdictions during its Jan. 15 meeting. Heath Mitchell moved to set the election date; Jessica Cowden seconded the motion and the board recorded the vote as Yea: 6, Nay: 0 (Tatum Pennington not present).
Separately, the board approved a Resolution and Joint Election Agreement with the City of Canadian, Hemphill County Hospital District and Hemphill County Underground Water Conservation District, and approved a Resolution and Joint Election Agreement with the City of Higgins. The board also appointed Drucy Cockrell to the Lipscomb County Appraisal Board for 2026 (motion by Jessica Cowden, second by Heath Mitchell). All actions were recorded as passing in the minutes.
