Board reviews district improvement plan: five-year milestones aim for A by 2030

Dr. Richland, the district's executive director of educational leadership, presented the 2025–26 district improvement plan goals and performance objectives, describing a timeline that began with data analysis in June and an administrative leadership retreat in July to set five-year milestones. "We will be focusing on 3rd grade reading and math, 8th grade social studies, 7th grade math, English 1 and English 2, retesters and early literacy," Dr. Richland told the board.
She described goal-aligned performance objectives across elementary, middle and high school levels, including hot-spot actions to reduce zeros on extended constructed responses (which she noted are worth 20 points each) and a target to reduce retesters by 30% per content area. The plan includes HB3 'reset' goals (55% for third-grade reading and math aligned to relative performance targets) and a multi-pronged family-engagement goal highlighted by a new student-led conference day on Oct. 27. Board members requested the next meeting include concrete strategies tied to the hot-spot objectives.
