“We really needed more clarity and refinement so we can ensure that teachers are able to do the internalization,” Hutchings said, describing a district effort to rewrite guiding documents so teachers can implement lessons without creating all materials from scratch. Harper highlighted new curriculum adoptions (Studies Weekly and McGraw Hill for secondary social studies) and plans to revise K–5 pacing and RLA guiding documents, including bilingual support and translations in science.
The board asked about accountability and reapproval timelines. Presenters said the audit is designed to be revisited annually; new adoptions or TEKS changes can require restarting phases for affected courses. The district will continue campus PLC engagement and professional learning to support implementation.
