Paradise ISD trustees approved an amended interlocal agreement with Wise County to secure three contracted student resource officers (SROs) for the district, at a cost of $60,000 per SRO and a total annual contracted cost of $180,000. District staff said one of the three positions will be funded from the state safety and security allotment; Wise County indicated it would not prorate the third officer’s cost.
The board approved the amended agreement on a motion by Phil Erickson, seconded by Renea Remmele, with the vote recorded Caddell—Yes; Cox—Absent; Read—Yes; Erickson—Yes; Murphy—Yes; Remmele—Yes; Smith—Yes (motion carried 6–0–1). The district noted the third SRO position will begin Oct. 6 and be housed at the Intermediate campus.
