Wise County requests 0.38‑acre gift; Paradise ISD approves interlocal for right‑of‑way

Wise County Commissioner Colby Shawn asked Paradise ISD on Sept. 15 to enter an interlocal agreement to transfer 0.38 acres for a road/right‑of‑way to support an Old Towne Road extension and a future turn lane intended to ease traffic near the new high school construction site. Shawn said the county had hoped to remove an S curve on School House Road but lacked city funding, so the alternate plan would run a new road on the north side of the construction project; engineering and a formal survey are required before construction.
The Board approved gifting the 0.38 acres to Wise County pending the official survey. Russell Read moved to approve the donation and Trent Murphy seconded; the vote was recorded as Caddell—Yes; Cox—Absent; Read—Yes; Erickson—Yes; Murphy—Yes; Remmele—Yes; Smith—Yes, and the motion carried 6–0–1. Commissioner Shawn said the issue would also appear on the Wise County Commissioners Court agenda on Sept. 22.
