Ore City ISD board approves routine items, calendar and personnel renewals in unanimous votes

The Ore City Independent School District Board of Trustees met Feb. 23, 2026, and approved a slate of routine district actions, with every recorded vote unanimous (7-0).
Board President Matthew Pearson called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and the board approved the minutes from the Jan. 12 and Feb. 2 meetings, the 2026–2027 district calendar and a Teacher Certification Waiver. The board also approved a resolution outlining bad-weather days for the district.
On personnel and governance items, trustees approved an Elementary Local Improvement Plan, granted the superintendent expanded hiring rights via a policy change, authorized a Region 7 consulting agreement for Cayla Mars and approved an Executive Operations stipend. The board returned from a closed session where it had conducted personnel deliberations and then voted to approve administrator contract renewals.
All motions noted in the minutes list Bobby Byrd as the mover on the principal motions and show unanimous support from trustees Bobby Clawson, Bryan Davis, Elizabeth Edwards, Chris Barton, Virginia Harris and President Matthew Pearson. The meeting record shows each item passed with a 7-0 tally.
The board scheduled no additional items for the March meeting and adjourned at 9:53 p.m.
