Pampa ISD board approves Chromebook purchase as costs rise

Courtney Blackmon, Director of Educational Technology and Assessment, told the board the district is seeing increases in Chromebook prices and plans to switch to Acer models to control the magnitude of the increase. The board approved the purchase in a unanimous vote on March 23, 2026.
Under the plan presented, fifth- and ninth-grade students will receive brand-new devices. The board voted 6–0 to approve the purchase; the motion was made by Kaleb Snelgrooes and seconded by Dr. Emily Arrington. The minutes note the district aims to limit costs while maintaining device access for grades scheduled to receive replacements.
