Elementary and Junior High Spelling Bee champions to advance to regional meet

The Orange Grove ISD Board of Trustees recognized two district spelling bee champions during its Feb. 16 meeting. Board member Sarah Boyle introduced Brynlee Wanoreck as the Elementary Spelling Bee Champion; the minutes record that Brynlee "went six rounds" and will compete at the Regional Meet on Feb. 28, 2026. Paul Mathis introduced Victoria Martinez as the Junior High Spelling Bee Champion; the minutes note she "went sixteen rounds" and will also compete on Feb. 28.
The recognition was presented during the meeting's student recognition portion and was followed by routine reports from principals and the superintendent. The board took no formal action on the recognition items; the champions' regional competition dates were noted for the record.
