Dr. Elias explained the district policy grants the superintendent discretion to nominate press-box honorees and said the nomination reflected many years of service as a public address announcer rather than an educator role. The motion to approve the naming passed five for and two against.
On the record: In his remarks Mr. Villegas recounted his years of announcing and said the community occasionally calls him "THE VOICE OF THE VALLEY." The Board’s votes and the record show the naming was approved as presented.
