The board reviewed and approved a plan to meet teacher certification requirements mandated by Texas Education Code §21.0032, which prohibits employing a teacher of record for a foundation course without the appropriate certification after the 2029–2030 school year.
Melanie Ferguson presented the district’s timeline and steps to reach full compliance by the statutory deadline. The board voted to approve the plan (motion by Drew Seidel; second by Cindy Gabehart), Passed 6–0. The plan commits the district to reaching certification compliance as rapidly as possible ahead of the state deadline and assigns implementation responsibilities to district human-resources and instructional leaders.
The action positions the district to meet state requirements; staff will return with progress updates as work continues toward the 2029–2030 compliance date.
