Pilot Point ISD adopts hybrid 2026-27 calendar with Fridays off

The Pilot Point ISD Board of Trustees voted Jan. 14 to approve Calendar Option #1 — a hybrid model that designates Fridays as the day off for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction Alicia Bonnett told trustees each calendar draft meets the state's required instructional minutes and days and that development included input from the District Education Improvement Council (DEIC) and a survey of staff, students and parents. The motion recorded in the minutes reads: "I move to APPROVE calendar option #1 - Hybrid Model, designating Fridays as the day off, as the PPISD 2026-2027 academic calendar." The motion was made by Craig Bickers, seconded by Mandy Kirby, and passed 6-0.
Board members did not amend the calendar during discussion. The calendar approval is recorded in the minutes as a final board decision; any appeals or adjustments would appear on future board agendas if requested.
