Trustees approve amendment to Pine Tree ISD District of Innovation plan

The Pine Tree ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously Sept. 8 to amend the district's District of Innovation plan to retain the district's current grievance procedures.
Trustee Cindy Gabehart moved to approve the amendment and Trustee Drew Seidel seconded. "I move to approve the amendments to the District of Innovation plan as presented," Gabehart said. The motion passed 5-0.
The board said the 89th Texas Legislature made changes to the Texas Education Code’s student grievance process — including timelines and filing requirements — and that the amendment preserves the district's existing policy and procedures for investigating incidents. The board did not propose changes to the district's grievance operations in the meeting record.
The action was taken during open session after an executive session earlier in the evening. No public comments were recorded related to the change.
