Perryton ISD board appoints Tyler Kile, elects officers and reassigns committees

The Perryton Independent School District Board of Trustees met on May 18, 2026, and appointed Tyler Kile to fill the vacancy created by Jeff Schollenbarger's resignation. The appointment motion, made by Trustee Duce Cooper and seconded by Trustee Jed Symons, passed after the board returned from executive session; the tally reported was six yeas and one abstention (Bryce Hale).
Board President Wes Beal administered the oath of office to Tyler Kile and to unopposed candidates Chris Lingo and Jed Symons. At the reorganizational portion of the meeting trustees elected Wes Beal as board president, Bryce Hale as vice president and Jed Symons as board secretary; each election was moved, seconded and recorded as passing with six yeas and one abstention (the motion mover abstained in each case). Trustees also volunteered for committee assignments: Ochiltree Appraisal District (Hale, Cooper, Lingo); Ranger Academic Enrichment Foundation (Hale, Beal, Symons); and the Safety Committee (Cunningham, Beal, Symons).
The appointment was made pursuant to Texas Education Code §11.060, and the board announced it had met in executive session under Texas Government Code §551.074 to discuss personnel prior to the appointment. The board set its next regular meeting for June 15, 2026.
