"April 2, 2026 is the last day to register to vote," he said, and the first day of in-person early voting is April 20; April 21 will have no early voting statewide for San Jacinto Day, and April 28 is the last day of in-person early voting.
Trustees voted 7–0 to select an alternate judge/voting-day clerk for the bond election. The board also said it will hold a town-hall meeting about the bond on April 13 in conjunction with a city candidate forum. Superintendent Waitman advised the board that additional information about an 80-acre county-owned parcel in Dunlap, which the county and district may consider selling, will be provided later; the county judge proposed retaining water and mineral rights if the sale proceeds.
The bond election dates and the board's appointment of alternate election staff complete the district's immediate procedural steps. Voters who want to participate must register by April 2 and can use the early-voting window beginning April 20.
