Town sets Oct. 31 trick-or-treat hours; local drives accept donations for Hurricane Helene victims

Because of a Halloween event on Oct. 26 on Pennsylvania Avenue and the extended Trick-or-Treat window, the Fire Department will not host a Halloween party this year.
Meeting minutes also record multiple hurricane-relief efforts: Treasurer Leslie Cummings proposed advertising that the town will accept donations for hurricane victims (she suggested Samaritan's Purse or Cajun Navy 2016), and Fire Chief Jeremy Haddix said two personnel were sent to assist Hurricane Helene response and that donations are being accepted at Vincent Memorial and Freedom Baptist churches and, for a limited time, at the Nutter Fort Post Office via Linda Griffith.
