Horry County approves ordinance to join Georgetown County in multi-county industrial park

David Jordan presented an ordinance authorizing Horry County to enter an interlocal agreement with Georgetown County to create a joint industrial and business park located in Georgetown County. He explained that because the property is located outside Horry County, Horry would participate as the minority county and partner on the state-required revenue-sharing provisions.
Committee members asked clarifying questions about the park’s location (Jordan referenced the port property and an area past the steel mill) and staff pointed members to attachments in the meeting packet for maps and additional details. The committee moved and approved the ordinance so Horry County may execute the agreement and apply relevant zoning and fee-in-lieu mechanisms in coordination with Georgetown County.
