Commission nominates Atlantic Beach and a local play for preservation recognition

"The 2 candidates that we have is Atlantic Beach, as they were listed on the National Register of Historical Places...They were the only 2 nominees we got so this year," Yasmin said, explaining the nominations and the Certified Local Government (CLG) context for the awards program.
Commissioners debated whether plaques should be presented to the town rather than distributed to multiple individuals. One commissioner argued for giving a single plaque to the town to display in a town building rather than issuing many small plaques to participants. Yasmin confirmed the awards ceremony is scheduled for May 19 at 5:30 p.m. and asked for volunteers to present the high-school video contest prize and the two preservation awards.
