"State law requires us to adopt new comprehensive plans every 10 years, and those plans have to be revisited every 5 years," staff said, adding that the county's Imagine 2040 plan (adopted in 2019) has had several elements updated and staff has begun work on the next full update under a tentative timeline. The presenter specifically referenced the 2020 amendment to South Carolina's comprehensive-plan enabling act that now requires a resiliency element.
Commissioners asked no substantive questions during the workshop; staff said they would share the timeline and follow up with stakeholders during the draft process.
