The village board approved a resolution to apply to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for a Municipal Parks and Recreation grant under the consolidated funding application, seeking approximately $158,305 for infrastructure upgrades at Lyons Field (including possible pickleball courts and other recreation devices).
Mayor Halley described the request and the intended uses: “We're putting in for approximately a 160,000. Actually, $1.58 $3.00 5. This is to improve the things that we asked for, in this grant was to do some, upgrade infrastructure issues at Lyons Field, possibly, add pickleball courts and other recreation devices down at the field for a $158,000.” The board also approved applying for the Orange County municipal tourism grant (typically about $5,000) to support beach events, signage and promotional activity for the summer season.
The grants are intended to offset rising program costs and fund capital and promotional activities; specific project scopes and matching requirements were not read in full during the meeting.
