At the July 15 meeting the board approved resolutions to apply for two state grants: a Justice Court Assistance Program grant (up to $30,000) and a New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services Law Enforcement Technology grant for up to $250,000. Trustees voted aye on both motions to authorize application submission.
Mayor Howley read correspondence from Detective Jason Dwyer confirming that New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation approved $117,354.48 for the village’s 2025 navigation season application. "We approved the amount of $117,354.48," the mayor said, noting the original requested amount had been reduced because certain overtime and continuation payroll expenses were ineligible for reimbursement.
Why it matters: The two grant applications could bring state funds to support court operations and police technology; the navigation aid is an immediate reimbursement for prior-season expenses that lessens local taxpayer burden.
Next steps: Applications for the DCJS grant are due Sept. 1, 2026, with award notices expected beginning Sept. 30, 2026; the board noted applying does not guarantee funding.
