City staff reported to the Sedan City Council that a property on Walnut Street has not had an active account since 2018 and that the city crew previously secured the meter with a yellow zip tie that later broke while the meter showed water on. Raven Darnall said staff will look up how much water usage occurred since 2018.
Police Officer Devin Lumley told the council that using service on an inactive account can constitute theft of services. The council did not record an enforcement action at the Feb. 4 meeting; staff follow-up on usage history was promised.
