A proposed lease to house Countywide Ambulance equipment at the Sheldon Volunteer Fire Company failed in a lopsided vote on July 14.
Resolution No. 26‑382 would have established a three‑year lease for garage and storage space for EMS staging at 923 Centerline Road, Strykersville, with monthly rents of $700 (year 1), $750 (year 2) and $800 (year 3) for a total contract amount of $27,000. The resolution was read in full and debated; Supervisor Berwanger told the board his town offered to host the ambulance at no cost and could provide a fuel tank and immediate space. After discussion, the motion was defeated: Ayes 13 (Sheldon), Noes 188.
The defeat preserves the status quo for Countywide Ambulance staging pending further discussion of alternate town offers and Director Meyers’ operational input recorded during the meeting.
