Sedan council approves bills, amends minutes and OKs 5% staff pay increase

At its Jan. 7, 2025 meeting, the Sedan City Council approved payment of $95,183.52 in bills, amended Dec. 17 minutes to correct a spelling, heard staff reports on sewer and accounting issues, and approved a 5% pay increase for city employees excluding the mayor and judge.
Mayor Bryan Blankinship called the Sedan City Council to order at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 7, 2025. Councilmember Janice Fine moved to approve the meeting agenda; Sharon Payne seconded and the motion carried. The council then amended the Dec. 17, 2024 minutes to correct the spelling of “trail,” on a motion by Adam Clark seconded by Kathy Miller.
Sharon Payne moved to approve payment of the bills in the amount of $95,183.52; Angela Evans seconded and the motion carried. After three brief executive sessions on personnel matters under K.S.A. 75-4319(b)(1), the council approved a 5% pay increase for all city employees excluding the mayor and the municipal judge on a motion by Adam Clark, seconded by Angela Evans. Angela Evans moved to adjourn at 6:38 p.m.; Janice Fine seconded and the motion carried.
