Historian: Perry High School named to NYS Register; local events and picnic planned

Wyoming County Historian K. Proper told the Human Resource Committee on July 28 that Perry High School "has been named to the NYS Register of Historic Places and is being recommended by the NYS Historic Preservation Officer to the National Registry." The recognition was presented as part of the historian's monthly update.
Proper also reported on recent and upcoming local events: the Charcoal Corral's July 14 "250 Commemoration" was estimated to have drawn about 500 attendees, and the Pioneer Cabin Association's annual picnic is scheduled for Aug. 2, 2026, with County Buildings and Grounds preparing the site (lawn mowing, weed whacking) for visitors.
