Village board approves MHE Engineering contract for state-mandated MS4 stormwater mapping

The Greenwood Lake Village Board on June 17 approved Resolution No. 1 of 2026–2027 to hire MHE Engineering to perform MS4 stormwater mapping and authorized the mayor to execute the agreement.
Mayor Hallie told the board the work is required by New York State and will require detailed GPS coordinates and mapping the village cannot accomplish with existing staff. "MS 4 mapping is all about stormwater management and getting the stormwater systems," the mayor said, adding that the work "has to be done extremely correctly." Trustees moved and seconded the resolution and approved it by voice vote with trustees absent as noted in roll call.
The contract will support the village's compliance with state MS4 regulations by identifying catch basins and mapping stormwater infrastructure. The mayor and staff said the village will rely on MHE's technical expertise and on the agreed scope of services to deliver the GPS-enabled inventory and paperwork required by state regulators. Next steps include finalizing the agreement documents and coordinating fieldwork and GPS collection with MHE once the contract is executed.
