Summary
The Bi-State Lake Commission postponed the planned drawdown because of dam safety concerns under New Jersey control; trustees said permits for herbicide treatment are expected and lake weed operations will begin in early June with a three-pronged approach.

The board reported the planned lake drawdown will not occur this year because New Jersey (which controls the dam) delayed operations due to concerns about the dam mechanism. Chair said the Bi-State Lake Commission is "erring on the side of caution" and that DEP funding for dam repairs is expected within 10–12 months.
Trustee Vette and staff said they expect permits for herbicide treatments by the end of the week, followed by a seven-day notification period and treatment expected on June 1 or June 2. The management plan is a three-pronged approach: manual water-chestnut removal, herbicide application, and mechanical harvesting as needed.
