Resident reports high water bill; city staff to inspect suspected leak

During public comments, resident Robbie Hambleton said her water bill had been unusually high and that she had checked inside her house without finding any leaks. Hambleton said she located a possible leak near an old water meter outside but did not know how far to dig to find it.
Staff member Jim Miller advised the council the city will need to move the water meter to the front of Hambleton's residence and said he would go to the property to help locate the leak in case it is a city issue. Mayor Blankinship and Councilmember Adam Clark agreed staff should inspect the site. The minutes record a suggestion from resident Irvin Hann that the city consider purchasing a meter leak checker (approximately $1,300) to assist with locating leaks.
