Mitchell," one board member said, detailing Mitchell's service as a teacher at Tempe High School, mayor of Tempe, a member of the Arizona State Senate and a U.S. representative. Board member Hodge, who said he was taught by Mitchell, added, "It's a privilege to honor the life and legacy of mister Harry Mitchell who was not only my teacher, but also a valued mentor and friend."
