The Winnsboro Independent School District Board of Trustees voted on March 17 to cancel the May 3, 2025 trustee election and declare the two unopposed candidates elected to full terms. Chip Brown moved the action and Brian Busby seconded; the motion carried 6-0.
"To approve the Cancellation of the May 3, 2025, WISD Board of Trustee Election, and Declare by Order the Two Unopposed Candidates, Brandon Green and Billy Saucier, Elected as Full Term Trustees," the motion states. Board President Brandon Green and Trustee Billy Saucier were the two candidates declared elected; Jay Murdock was listed as absent at the meeting. The cancellation means the district will not hold a contested trustee election in May because only two candidates filed for the available seats.
Board records show the vote was unanimous among members present. The action was taken during the regular board meeting after routine consent items and informational reports were considered.
