The Brookings County Board of County Commissioners met in a special session Tuesday, June 23, 2026. Chairperson Shawn Hostler called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m., and the board recorded the presence of Commissioners Kelly VanderWal, Larry Jensen, Doug Post and Dave Miller.
The board conducted budget hearings covering 11 departments — 4‑H/Extension; Register of Deeds; Weed & Pest; State's Attorney; Community Health; County Development; BCOAC; Finance; Commission Department; Highway; and Sheriff — and also reviewed non‑mandated requests and non‑departmental budgets. The record shows no members of the public signed in to speak during the citizen invitation portion of the meeting.
